This chapter evaluates some of the philosophical, methodological, professional and policy challenges raised by the project of public health ethics. It argues that public health ethics is an integral part of public health practice and policy and stresses the need to embed public health ethics within an interdisciplinary and societal context. It highlights the unique nature of public health ethics and places the discussion and application of ethics within a discussion that draws on philosophical principles.
