This chapter examines the consequences of the ‘invisibility’ of black and minority ethnic women in Great Britain. It highlights the ability of women, in small day-to-day ways, to shape their own lives and the futures of their children and communities in a manner that frequently goes unnoticed in conventional analyses. The chapter calls for a more central analytic place for women in analyses of ethnic disadvantage and diversity.
