In the USA ACORN developed an alternative model of community organising to that of the IAF. ACORN was based on four specific goals: adequate income, dignity, justice and democratic participation. Over its lifetime ACORN created a range of innovative community organising approaches including a diverse network of affiliates, voter registration drives, direct involvement in political campaigns, trade union organising, affordable homes programmes and promoting the living wage. The chapter also discusses the work of ACORN International through case studies in India
