This chapter provides the story of Barkat Bibi. She does not know in what year she was born, because, in those days, they did not have ways of documenting people's dates of birth. Barkat was born in Pakistan, where people trusted the decisions that their parents made for them. The government in England encouraged people to come to help in the factories because they needed workers. Barkat was responsible for the home, and her husband was responsible for work. She made sure that she did her best for her children when it came to education. Despite all of the changes, the stories of the older generation cannot be forgotten. Her only dua (prayer) is that Barkat's children won't forget to tell their children what the first generation actually went through to help create a better life for young people now.
