Abstract

Policing–primarily the activities of the public police–is at a turning point and the pace of change is accelerating, with a renewed emphasis on crime reduction yet with austerity. Both the UK and The Netherlands, the two societies that are being compared in this book, have been going through their most convulsive changes since the 1960s.
