This chapter adopts a reflexive approach to fieldwork and provides an account of how field practices shaped the research questions, settings, process of knowledge generation and impact. The chapter contests a view of methodology as a coherent set of practices and instead develops understandings of the embodied intersubjective dynamics of the fieldwork and their effects on the research. Particular attention is given to intricacies of doing research as a community-based practitioner with a focus on reflexivity, complex positionality and ethics.

Keywords:   practitioner research, research methodology, reflexivity, ethnography, community youth work, ethics
