This introduction to the book sets out the core research questions of the book arguing that the economic crisis has seemingly had a major impact on young people’s experiences of growing up around the world and this book sets out on a quest of trying to see how these changes are experienced in different parts of the world and how have different states responded. This introduction also sets out the rational for the case study methodology and explains the reasons for choosing the particular countries used as a focus to the analysis. It concludes with an overview of the different chapters that follow.
