Policy Press

The introductory chapter outlines the aims and perspectives of the book. It presents the theoretical and analytical framework applied, as well as the themes investigated in the book. It is argued that fatherhood has generally applied less attention than motherhood and that the Nordic geographical setting, with its emphasis on gender equality, provides an interesting empirical case for the investigation of policies and practises of modern fatherhood. Also, the chapter shortly presents the demographic and labour market characteristics of the Nordic countries.
