A new theory of education is discussed; not one of learning but of understanding education. The meaning of the empirical data is higlighted and why finding meaning through theoretical framework (of Kuhn and Foucault) is important to understand its significance. The depth of the adult need to discover another educational pathway is outlined. The discovery of EHE as an idiosyncratic, personal journey which is not for everyone is discussed. The theory of difference in education in introduced as an educational philosophy involved in EHE distinct from other forms of education such as schooling. The chapter also covers the creating of a philosophy of EHE, akin with continental and Zen approaches to thinking. The EHE appropriate philosophy is needed rather than a schooling approach. Thomas S. Kuhn’s work on paradigms is discussed as suiting the data on EHE discovery moments. Michel Foucault’s late turn to “care of the self” used to explain why discovery matters so much personally to adults. A newly formed conception of education as a science is proposed.
